Hyper Key

Getting Started

To customize the Hyper Key, go to Settings → Advanced → Hyper Key.

Once it’s set you’re good to go 🙂

What if something is acting up?

Ensure that no other application is performing Hyper Key mapping. If another application is already doing this, it will not work properly. Please disable any conflicting applications before using this feature.

If you’re experiencing issues (like the Hyper Key doesn’t work anymore we’d like to have some information from you:

Option(⌥) + Click the Raycast icon in the Menu Bar and select Diagnostics Tool — here we want to have the following;

  • Click the button Hyper Key Diagnostics and:
    • A screenshot of all fields in — If you have multiple keyboards it would be nice if you could also show everything from the last textarea (Key Remappings)
  • Click the button Keyboard Diagnostics and:
    • Click the checkbox in upper right corner, press first ⌘ once, then your Hyper Key and then click Copy Output

Why doesn't Hyper Key work in password fields?

That’s a limitation in macOS because it treats password fields as secure input fields, which are not monitored for security reasons. It’s possible to bypass this by loading a driver, but we’re not going to do that

I can’t find it in the Advanced tab

Make sure to update to 1.91.0 and it should be there 🙂

Could you provide some examples of what I could use Hyper Key for?
  • Bind ✦M to Search Menu Items
  • Bind ✦G to GIF Search (Get the extension from the Store)
  • Bind ✦S to Search Snippets

Why isn’t Hyper Key working with Caps Lock?

Head to your System Settings under Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts... → Modifier keys, please select "Caps Lock" if you have "No action" selected in the Caps Lock field. If this does not help, please send the Hyper Key and Keyboard Diagnostics to support@raycast.com.
