The types of Shortcuts available in Raycast are:
- Hotkeys: keyboard combinations that launch the corresponding Application, Quicklink, or Command directly, without the need to open the launcher.
- Aliases: short phrases which let you quickly find items in root search.
🗺️ Where to set shortcuts
Through Raycast Settings (Ctrl , ) you can easily assign shortcuts to all of your:
- Applications
- Built-In Extension Commands
- Third-party Extension Commands
- System Controls
- Quicklinks
You can do so in either:
- The Shortcuts tab, which gives you a bird’s-eye view of all your shortcuts, and lets you filter them by category and modification.
- Each Extension’s dedicated tab, where apart from extension-specific settings, you can access set shortcuts to all associated commands.
⌨️ Available Hotkey Types
You can record the following types of hotkeys:
- Modifiers + Single key (e.g.
WinShiftForAltS) - Double-tap modifier (e.g.
WinWin) - Single-tap modifier (e.g.
Winorfn)
When you finish recording a hotkey, you can hit ↵ to save it. It will be auto-saved after a few seconds, unless you take an action to edit.
đź”§Â Modifying hotkeys
When a valid hotkey is recorded, you can also modify individual keys, by hovering and clicking over them. This let’s you:
- Select a specific modifier:Â any (default), left, or right.
- Select between a key equivalent or layout independent key
🚨 Resolving conflicts
If the hotkey you selected is already used by another application or command, this will be indicated in the hotkey recorder.
If you would like to quickly overwrite it, just hit ↵. Your previous hotkey will be removed and the new one will be saved.
